Solid Waste Plan

The new solid waste plan was approved in 2015. The current plan covers activities from 2015 through 2024. Major points of our solid waste plan are:
Comply with the goal of providing recycling opportunity to at least 90% of the district population through direct provision of recycling services in each county and through private efforts of local governments and recyclers.

Rather than designate specific facilities to receive waste, the district will use all available facilities - both in-district and out-of-district.

Provide education and technical assistance to all sectors (general public, communities, businesses, and industry) to reduce waste and increase recycling.

Manage hard-to-dispose materials through the private sector wherever possible, and encourage residents to purchase only items for which there is adequate disposal or recycling services.

Encourage the purchase of recycled content products and support development of new markets for recyclable materials.
